Danbury High School Addition - "Grandstand"
Danbury, Connecticut

• 72,000 square feet
• Capacity: 350 students within the Grade 9 academy
• Addition to an existing high school. High Performance Building

Occupying the space between the existing high school and outdoor sports complex, this monumental addition performs two roles: providing a gymnasium on the lower level and classrooms above. The use of metal panels and masonry along with the curvilinear volume create the idea of a bridge between a large, urban high school and a modern stadium. This grand facade identifies the 9th grade academy and serves as a threshold between academics and athletics.
