A river is movement, containing life within it. This idea provided inspiration for the design and architectural process. Starting with a solid geometry of cubes and planes, this building’s forms emanated from the solid, much like the walls of a natural canyon forms. Entry and circulation patterns provided the pressure and informed the plan, while programmed spaces emerged along the paths created by imaginary rivers and their tributaries. Gathering spaces appear where circulation paths meets and the lines between interior and exterior begin to fade.
