John Wallace Middle School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Last week, Friar Architecture was honored to celebrate the grand reopening of John Wallace Middle School and participate in student-led tours of the three newly renovated classroom wings for Grades 6, 7, and 8. These spaces have been transformed into modern, safe, and flexible learning environments for everyone at JWMS.

Each wing now includes a single corridor connected to closed classrooms and flex spaces. This improved layout mitigates noise transfer between classrooms, improves security, and is easier for students and faculty to navigate. Within each classroom, new flexible furniture can be reconfigured to adapt to different learning tasks, additional casework provides more storage, and improved audio/visual technology makes learning more accessible. Throughout the renovated spaces, a calming palette that emulates the school colors is strategically implemented in the furniture and finishes.

At the heart of this project is a commitment to providing students, faculty, and staff with welcoming learning environments that can adapt to evolving technologies, make students and faculty feel safe, and provide flexibility for different learning styles.
