Memorial facilities by friar
Friar Associates takes this time to remember and honor our country’s veterans. The following are some memorial projects around Connecticut in which we have been involved.
Danbury’s war memorial, with the motto “To honor the dead, to serve the living”, provides a gymnasium, various meeting rooms and newly renovated toilet facilities. It serves adults and students daily.
The project for Simsbury involved designing lighting that creatively, powerfully and respectfully memorializes local veterans.
The project at Torrington City Hall included a memorial area that honors City residents who served in the military. The space consists of memorial panels and stars for each local hero recognized.
The 9/11 Memorial Sports Center at Pitkin Community Center arose from Judy Keane’s vision of a community sports center as a fitting way to honor her husband, who lost his life in the World Trade Center tragedy. At the new entrance a twisted steel World Trade Center remnant forms a striking, awe-inspiring sculpture. It serves as a solemn reminder to visitors of the horrors of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and the lives lost.
